Guest speaker: Dr. Mohammed Shokr speaks about Arctic sea ice: research and community perspectives

Dr. Mohammed Shokr is a Research Scientist with Environment Canada. His scientific research covers the fields of sea ice, its impact on climate and retrieval of ice information from satellite data to support the Canadian operational sea ice monitoring program. He participated in many scientific expeditions to the Arctic. Dr. Shokr is also a community and a political activist, working closely with organizations that support human rights, particularly the rights of the Palestinians. He is a present and past member of Arab, Islamic as well as interfaith, inter-cultural organizations.
